All of Hodo's tofu is made fresh daily at The Beanery in Oakland. We start with the finest American heritage soybeans, hand-selected by our Tofu Master. We use only whole beans - never soy extract or isolates - and craft our tofu in the traditional Chinese way: no preservatives and high in calcium content.
 
We make tofu for a wide variety of culinary uses. A silken custard. Pressed blocks that are soft, firm or extra firm. Tofu that is braised with flavorful marinades and flash-fried into fluffy cubes. We even make a dark tofu from a special varietal of black soybeans. Eaten fresh, each is a revelation.

Tofu Blocks
Medium and Firm textured blocks of soybean curd made fresh daily in small batches. Eaten simply, scrambled, grilled or in stir-fries. You will taste such a difference from a tofu made for a long shelf life.

Soy Custard (Silken Tofu)
Light custard (silken tofu) made with our soymilk. Delicious served savory with soy sauce and scallions, or sweet with our ginger-sugar syrup.

Braised Tofu
Extra firm tofu braised in a light anise flavored soy sauce that gives it a lovely fragrance and rich flavor. Perfect for healthy stir-fries with your favorite vegetables.
Ingredients: soybeans, filtered water, soy sauce, cinnamon, anise, calcium sulfate

Tofu Puffs
Lightly fried, soft tofu cubes that are perfect for absorbing sauces in tagines or broths in soups. These chewy textured puffs will deliver a flavorful punch!
